Hi, I’m Katrina - most people call me Kat - the maker and mum behind Krafty Kat, a handmade business built from life’s challenges and fuelled by creativity, love, and a deep desire to help families like mine.

Almost ten years ago, my life changed dramatically after a serious car accident while I was pregnant with my fifth child. Multiple surgeries and a stroke followed, leaving me partially paralysed and unable to return to my previous working life. While my world looked very different overnight, I refused to let that chapter define me.

As I worked through recovery, I was also navigating the realities of raising children with neurodivergence and life-threatening allergies. Finding products in Australia that were safe, affordable, engaging, and genuinely allergen-free felt impossible - so I began creating them myself.

And that’s how Krafty Kat was born.

Why I Started Krafty Kat

💛 I needed a creative outlet and a flexible way to work around my health and family

🌈 I wanted to create truly allergen-free products - safe for children like mine, and trusted by parents

🧠 My neurodivergent children inspired sensory play tools that are engaging, inclusive, and genuinely fun

🎨 Crafting became therapy - and purpose - when others gave up on me and I chose to embrace life as it now is

Why "Krafty Kat"?

One night, toward the end of the school year, I woke with a simple but memorable thought:

“Do you have your KK present yet?”

Then it clicked - “Let Krafty Kat help you!”

My kids loved it (and thought it was brilliant Christmas marketing), and from that moment the name stuck. Today, Krafty Kat brings colour, creativity, play, and handcrafted beauty into homes across Australia.
